The eight8eight
was originaly designed for YoYoFactory Contest Team players for the 2007 contest
'Season'. In terms of manufacturing it ushers in a new era of quality and precision
in manufacturing for YoYoFactory in response for customers' demands for absolute
perfection. While the G5 narrow profile offers great access to the hubstacks,
the 888s wide body and diameter cater for more traditional 'single A' play.
The addition of hubstacks does NOT, for even one moment, detract from the smooth
spin and string play, but opens the door to more play options
"So what changed for 2008 ? Material changed, they have stepped up
an alloy grade, to 7075 then they changed the machining process to offer a high
lustre finish. It isn't all about grinds you know . The axle is stainless, .
Its a floating axle, no need to centre, no need for loctite or glues. The total
weight has not changed much at all, but everyone who tried it comments on how
it is heavier, this is all in the weight distribution, which is futher improved.
The new hubstacks are polycarbonate and a little lighter too"
